When running rugged 4x4 expedition tours across volcanic black sands and remote mountain tracks, operational choices come down to a hard rule: safety always comes first.
We get asked regularly why we don’t use glass bottles for guest drinking water. It is a fair question, and we care deeply about the environment. However, when you operate in the field, theory meets reality very quickly. Glass simply does not work for our operations for two major reasons:
The Breakage Hazard: If a glass bottle is dropped, it shatters into sharp fragments. We frequently host families with children on our tours. The chances of dropping a bottle while navigating rough terrain tracks in our 4x4 or walking across sharp black lava fields are high—and we cannot take that risk with children or guests.
The Guide Load and Weight Factor: On our mountain treks, our guides carry the water supply. If we packed glass, a standard load for six guests would mean hauling heavy glass containers alongside the liquid weight, creating an unsafe and unfair strain on our team. By using practical 600ml plastic bottles, we cut out the dead weight of glass entirely, reducing physical strain and keeping our guides safe on the trail.
Because human health and safety will always outrank trends, we are actively phasing out our old glass bottles and transitioning back to lightweight, durable plastic bottles for practical field use.
Innovation Where It Counts: Steel NFC Business Cards
Just because we have to be pragmatic about water containers doesn't mean we stop looking for ways to reduce waste. To make up for it elsewhere, we have completely upgraded our networking approach.

We’ve swapped traditional paper cards for reusable, fully changeable steel business cards.
How they work: A simple tap on a smartphone uses built-in NFC technology to instantly transfer our contact details straight into a client's address book.
The fallback: If a customer has an older phone without NFC capability, a unique QR code laser-etched on the back does the job instantly.
What the customer sees when you tap the card on their phone. The impact: No more throwing away outdated stacks of business cards whenever a phone number changes, a staff member joins, or a new social media handle launches. It saves a significant amount of paper waste every single year while cutting out repetitive printing costs.
Living Our Philosophy
"Your safety is our number one priority" isn't just a marketing slogan we throw on a website to look good—we live it every day. Glass bottles don't belong on a bumpy 4x4 track over volcanic rock, just like disposable cardboard business cards don't fit our long-term efficiency goals.
Our Promise
We will always choose what keeps our guests safe.
We will always choose what protects our guides from injury.
We will always keep our operations running with efficacy.
